Obituary

John F. Trykoski

February 26, 1952November 3, 2005

The Towing industry has lost one of its own. John Trykoski was a 37+ year veteran that dedicated his life to Towing and Recovery. John suffered a massive stroke. He was a Wreckmaster 4/5 that worked for Sams, OHare and Bristle Towing and Recovery over the span of his career. He was influential in molding his nephew, Mike Trykoski, in to one of the best recovery operators in Chicago. John left behind his two sisters- Dotty and Mary-Ann, and a brother, Chuck. John was remembered as a workaholic who always had a smile and a story to tell. He will be missed.

2 Tollway employees hurt. At my garage this past Friday one group was assigned to move a very heavy and large safe from one toll plaza to another. Ron Riveras middle finger was crushed. The late word is that the finger could not be saved and had to be amputated. It is unknown exactly what happened.

Another employee was rear ended as he cleared a disabled vehicle and he is expected to be ok.

I wish Ron and Jack the best and hope they have a speedy recovery. they are dedicated Tollway employees and good men.

I will keep them and their families in my prayers.

Please.please be careful. Be safe out there and stay alert.

Maurer Services Update.

We are making some progress with setting up the business. The phones have been set up- the main business number is 773-631-6200 and the dedicated fax number is 773-631-6262. I dont want to go into detail but I am getting a great deal and my phones are automatically forwarded to my cell after 3 rings and I have distinctive ring as the fax line so I am happy with the small amount of progress I have made. One of the main reasons I wanted to start my business now is to get an add placed in a directory of towing services before they publish next years edition. I have also spoken to 2 major trucking companies and I am faxing them my venders request form. I am also reading the operators guide to opening a small business the manual recommended by the TRAA. I am also contacting the city of Chicago because they have a small business department that all they do is help people start business. I have started to look into some of the Taxes that I will be subject to and I am starting to worry that I will go broke on the taxes before the business even starts. Business license, business certificate, self employment tax, in home business tax, and there are about 4 more I cant remember now. The insurance I will take on at Baltimore. Stay tuned an I will continue to update my progress.
