towing on the tollway
well, as you can see there are no pics of a jackknife here and that means i either did not hear the call for it or it did not happen. im guessing it did not happen because the rain we expected was not the storm predicted,
so...
as i was on my job assignment today, i was doing dome daydreaming about what i would post as my daily post, i was abit discuraged because i want to keep this as exiting as possable. then- the truck died and the story of the day fell into my lap. the truck needed to be towed. its a little gmc stake body with a 100 gallon tank for lawn chemicals. it was 1/2 full. so the mechanic called for a medium duty tow and Ernies came out. they brought out one of their heavys- i know it looks like abit overkill but you know- i agree with what they did. 1) in cases when people call for medium dutys, sometimes they don't know what a medium duty really is and so to be on the safe side they bring out a heavy - better to over kill than under estimate and have to go back and get another truck. 2) its the tollway, ernies needs to keep the tolway as happy as possable so they over compensated. and 3) i don't bielive ernies has a true medium duty and althought their smaller medium duty would have handled this job just fine, they need to keep the tollway happy. so thats that.
all in all they did a good job. Jim towed the truck and because it was not a solid front axel the truck could not be forked on the axel. so for the ride back to our shop Jim keeped checking the load and driving carefully.
i will say one thing- i learned something!!!!!! i don't know why i did not think of it b4 because it seems so odvious and simple. i always had a problem with my safety chains from the truck to the towed vehicl and having them drag on the ground. Jim used a bungy cord to keep the chain somewhat taunt but still long enuff to compensate for any turns. i know the pics are abit fuzzy but you can make out what im talking about.
ROLLOVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the call just came in- im out of here!!!!!woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
