the perfect recovery
as many of you know, i do not find perfection veryoften and i find some sort of downfall in everyrecovery. what i am about to show you is one recovery i think is almost perfect. this recovery was don by yates towing and these pictures are from their web site (www.yateswrecker.com) as well as other sorces. i love this recovery because of the tecnique used. this style of recovery would get bad reviews from me if it were under different circumstances because of the positions of the tow trucks but becuse this is in a parking lot, lane blockage is not an issue and my other pet peve (safety vests) are not either. although i would have liked to have seen some hard hats and other safety gear. honestly the only thing i would have added to this recovery would have been some angle spreader/ softners / iron (what ever you call them) but they did not need them as they did not cause any damage.
i really like the use of 4 straps, that means with the use of the front axel pull, there are 5 lines to the load and 4 for the trailer alown, this is not even close to overloading the lines. also the 4 straps on the trailer are cusioning each major portion of the treailer. in the picture below you can see what i mean. the blue is cusioned suported area and the red is not. 90% of the trailer is suported and what is not by the straps were suported by the bags untill the final lift and by that time in the recovery, a good portion of the weight against the walls are now supprted by the floor- so there is less preasure against the walls.
and probably what i love the most about this recovery are the 2 straps that are criss-cross and go across the trailer edge at an angle.this accomplishes 2 things, 1 more of the area of the trailer wall is suported but even more importently, more of the edge of the corner is suported and the full resistence load on the strap is more spread out on the corner, it is ilistrated in the pic below. on recoverys were the strap is strait over the corner, like the ones at the end of the trailer, the full line load is on that 1 little area.
and actualy, i did not widen that blue line enuff, because of the angle the preasure is spread out even more.
this is a great recovery and i want to say that i i would not posses much of my knoledge about recoveries if it were not for wreckmaster. i bring this up because i have gotten several compliments about my knoledge and explenations in my recovery reviews and i have to give credit where credit is due. everyone should go to wreckmaster, it is a welth of knoledge and will help even the most experianced opperator learn something.
